Diamond-quality New Year’s Eve Celebrations at Home

Phoenix, Ariz. December 27, 2010. Nearly two million Arizonans will be travelling for the holidays, but for those who are staying home for the New Year, AAA Diamond properties are hosting celebrations with style.

“Arizonans do not need to travel far to have a glamorous night out to ring in the New Year,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “Some of the state’s best resorts are offering the complete ‘staycation’ celebration package with incredible deals on fine dining, entertainment and luxurious accommodations all under one roof.”

If you are looking for a special way to greet 2011, AAA would like to offer some recommendations for festivities across the state:

Scottsdale

  • The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, a AAA Five Diamond property, will present “The Factory – A Celebration of Pop Art” in its Stone Rose Lounge. The resort invites guests to dress in chic “Andy Warhol style” cocktail attire and enjoy a midnight toast for $25 per person. Guests who dine at BOURBON STEAK, La Hacienda, The Grill or LV Bistro that evening will receive a complimentary admission to the party. Guests may also make the event a weekend affair with the Sip, Savor & Celebrate package, starting at $349 per night. The package consists of a two-night resort stay, a $50 food and beverage credit, and admission to the New Year’s Eve party.

Party-goers with little ones can also take advantage of the resort’s Explorer’s Camp, which will be open through midnight on New Year’s Eve, where children ages 5 to 12 can party and dine for $12 per child. The Camp is complimentary for children whose parents patron one of the resort’s restaurants or partake in its New Year’s Eve celebration.

  • Hotel Valley Ho, a AAA Four Diamond property, is hosting a hip New Year’s Eve bash in its ZuZu lounge: Guys & Dolls ‘Til Sputnik Falls. This Rat Pack-style soiree will feature cocktails, a four-course meal, and dancing accompanied by modern and 1950s hits spun by DJ P-Body. Event tickets start at $95 per person, and rooms are available at $199 per night. A three-night room package is also available starting at $399, and includes brunch for two on New Year’s morning.

Tucson

  • The Arizona Inn, a AAA Four Diamond property, is hosting the annual New Year’s Eve Tucson Symphony Orchestra Moveable Music Feast, which includes champagne cocktails, a hosted bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a four-course gourmet meal. Celebration guests will be treated to performances by Tucson Symphony Orchestra ensembles and soloists, and dance until midnight to the Swing ‘N the New Jazz Band. Event tickets are priced at $199, but party-goers may book a room with the inn and receive two complimentary event tickets, and breakfast the following morning, starting at $687.

  • The JW Marriot Starr Pass Resort & Spa, a AAA Four Diamond property, is joining the Tucson Jazz Society to host the fifth annual New Year’s Eve Gala. This swinging social offers an elegant four-course dinner, performances from award-winning jazz musicians, two dance floors, and a champagne toast, ball drop and balloon drop. Event tickets start at $189 per person, and the resort is offering a special room rate of $122 per night. Tickets and special rate room reservations are available through the Tucson Jazz Society website.

Flagstaff

  • The Little America Hotel, a AAA Three Diamond property, offers a cozy New Year’s Eve all-inclusive package for the adults. Guests can enjoy a dinner buffet for two, live entertainment by the Tommy Dukes Band, a midnight champagne toast, plus a warm night’s stay and breakfast buffet New Year’s morning for $315. Families, however, might also consider Flagstaff’s Annual Pine Cone Drop at the historic Weatherford Hotel. This free event started in 1999 as a way to welcome the millennium, and it continues today as a music-filled block party, with two cone drops at 10 p.m. and again at midnight.
