Ten Days Remain for Free Auto Inspections

Phoenix, Ariz., April 20, 2010. Motorists wanting to take advantage of a free auto inspection need to act fast! There are just 10 days left of Car Care Month, a time when AAA encourages drivers to address their vehicles’ maintenance needs.

Throughout April, AAA Owned Auto Repair facilities and more than 150 AAA Approved Auto Repair facilities are offering members free 36-point vehicle inspections and charging system checks to help prepare their vehicles for the summer months.

Last year, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, AAA’s Roadside Assistance team responded to calls for help from more than 132,000 Arizona motorists, an increase of nearly 12 percent compared to the same time period in 2008.

In honor of National Car Care Month, AAA encourages motorists to have their vehicles inspected before summer arrives. Whether a motorist opts to conduct a self-inspection or entrusts their vehicle to an automotive professional, the auto club recommends the check include the following vehicle components:

  • Battery
  • Charging System
  • Tires
  • Belts and Hoses
  • Windshield Wipers
  • Motor Oil and Lubricants

Motorists looking to find a trusted auto repair shop to conduct a vehicle check-up during Car Care Month should visit www.az.aaa.com/auto to find the nearest AAA owned or Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities across the state. Each inspection holds a $50 value, which is only three dollars less than the cost of a AAA membership for an entire year.

For members not needing a complete inspection, complimentary battery testing will be available at the following AAA locations:

  • April  20                         Peoria, 7422 W. Thunderbird Rd.
  • April  21                         Mesa, 4126 East Valley Auto Dr.

AAA Arizona, the Arizona affiliate of AAA, provides automotive, insurance and auto travel services to nearly 800,000 Arizona members.  Annually, AAA’s Emergency Road Service responds to more than 450,000 calls for help on the streets and highways of the state as well as providing insurance, travel, and financial services to AAA members and motorists.  Since its founding in 1927, AAA Arizona has been a leading advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.  In 2008, AAA was ranked the No. 1 “socially responsible” brand by Landor’s BrandAsset® Valuator.
